Frequently asked questions

Do you have questions about the Bearton Twins method? Please check the section below to see if the answers are there. If they aren’t, feel free to contact us!

Q1
Can my child join a Bearton Twins course if they haven't studied English before?

Yes! The Bearton Twins method is suitable for all primary school children, whether they’ve studied English before or not.

Q2
How are students placed in the right course level?

The Bearton Twins method is designed for primary school pupils: Level 1 is for 2nd graders, Level 2 for 3rd graders, and so on. However, we assess each child’s individual level through a short diagnostic test (both written and oral) to ensure they’re placed on the right course.

Q3
Can my child use the Bearton Twins method in their first year of primary school?

No, the Bearton Twins method is for 2nd grade and above. For first graders, we offer the Teddy Eddie method, which is tailored to their age group. Teddy Eddie uses fun, active games and global reading to teach English without requiring writing skills. Find out more at www.teddyeddie.com.

Q4
Is homework compulsory?

While the final decision is up to the school, we recommend regular use of the app to maximise progress. Brief, consistent contact with the language and regular vocabulary practice are key for language development.

Q5
How often are classes held?

Classes are available in the format of 2×45 minutes, 2×60 minutes, or 1×90 minutes per week, depending on what the school offering the Bearton Twins method decides.

Q6
What language progress can I expect?

Children attending Bearton Twins classes will consolidate and expand the material they learn in school, and gain practical language skills to use actively in everyday situations.

Q7
Will Bearton Twins classes help my child at school?

Yes. The Bearton Twins method is aligned with the core curriculum and will help your child to consolidate what they’re learning at school, build confidence, and activate the vocabulary needed for lessons. With this extra practice, they will feel more confident in class.
